Powered by GoogleThe Martha's Vineyard Y claims to be open until 9:00 but arbitrarily "closes the showers at 8:30" and have other-gender janitors enter the locker room BEFORE the building is closed, which definitely needs to stop immediately. And they charge active Y members $10 per visit when the member is from a different Y, which is completely unacceptable. You're either a YMCA or not; you don't get to charge extra fees for ACTIVE MEMBERS who have already paid the organization just cuz ya feel like it..
The YMCA on Martha’s Vineyard is truly one of the island’s best year-round community spaces. It is always clean, welcoming, and beautifully maintained, with excellent fitness equipment, wonderful classes, and programs for all ages. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, and it has such a great sense of community. At Grace Hagerty Real Estate, we always love recommending places like this that make life on Martha’s Vineyard so special.
The best workout on the Island, this place is a jewel.
Please, don't employ untrained, emotional, discriminative staff to answer the phone call inquiries. She would not comprehend our inquiries, or, answer the questions but refused to let us talk to other staff at the front desk, or any (duty) managers, but hung up. And, I cannot believe there is no supervising staff or manager, while operating the pool and other activities with lots of senior or junior members, throughout the day, according to this rude front person. The manager does not respond to the calls, either, for over a week. The locker area is filthy as the cleaning crew does not disinfect or wipe down the cabinet doors and it smells foul. However another Gym floor cleaner, a young male, is cleaning the area thoroughly when he can. He should be promoted. Very unprofessional that they don't improve the customer service or take care of the hygiene issue!
I LOVE THE Y! I've been a regular since it opened and have enjoyed classes, laps in the pool, after school program and childcare while I work out. The staff and trainers are all so professional and amazing at what they do. Margarita's classes are my favorite! We are truly lucky to have the YMCA on Martha's Vineyard!
