Powered by GoogleOn behalf of the Blue Star Families (military families) Chicago Area Chapter, we want to give a "shout out" to the Wilderness Inquiry crew who hosted a day of canoeing for the military familes (both active duty and veteran) from, and near, Naval Station Great Lakes, on Lake Michigan yesterday. They were incredibly professional and engaging. We can't thank you all enough for what you do. Our families enjoyed this event beyond measure, some never having sat a canoe before! Again, on behalf of the military familes we serve, a heartfelt thank you! Finest regards, Ray Stripling, and Ben Gould, Blue Star Familes - Chicago Area, Program Director.
We did the Yellowstone National Park trip with John and Haley as guides and they were amazing! John brought his experience/wisdom and Haley brought her energy and smile that made the trip really enjoyable! I had been camping a few times before but learned so much from the trip like how to set up a fire and a bunch of other tips/tricks.
Wilderness Inquiry coordinated an awesome trip for our family and a handful of other military families. We went to Glacier National Park, and it was one of the most memorable trips we've had as a family. It was so awesome to camp for 5 nights, have meals already planned, tents set up, and have other kids that our kids had the greatest time playing with the whole week. I would do it again in a heart beat.
I've been on many trips with WI and each is special and memorable. Until recently, I did all the logistics for camping, backpacking, canoeing and kayaking trips (usually with my daughters their families and friends but sometimes by myself) for many years. Now it's too hard for me to do the heavy lifting and that is where WI excels. The well-training and compassionate staff provide as little or as much assistance as is requested. I plan to continue taking two or three WI trips per year for as long as I can (hopefully many years). Looking forward to meeting new folks on WI trips.
I have been on several Wilderness Inquiry (WI) trips; the most recent being the Florida Everglades canoe trip. For most of my life I have organized and led trips, for example to the BWCAW every year with my daughters. In the past few years an arthritic hip has made it difficult to do the heavy lifting. I discovered Wilderness Inquiry whose mission is to ensure that the wilderness is accessible to ALL and thajnk goodness am able to spent time in the deep woods again. I am so impressed with the skill, dedication, and compassion of the WI staff. They are extraordinary at creating a welcoming and inclusive experience, and building comradery among the group members. Plus providing healthy meals and doing the heavy lifting. I plan to continue to participate in one or two WI trips each year as long as I am able, and WI can likely extent my "able" period. Next WI trip is to the Apostle Islands next month.
