Whispering Oaks

Camp Whispering Oaks is a Girl Scouts San Diego camp property near Julian that hosts summer sleepaway camp alongside independent troop camping, service unit group camping and council-sponsored programmes. Sleepaway campers stay in cabins or tents, spend about half their time on their session theme and the rest on general camp activities such as arts and crafts, hiking, archery, nature activities, a challenge course, sleep-outs and cookouts, with regular water games and a chance to swim at neighbouring Camp Winacka's pool about once a week. Sessions register online, and round-trip bus service from Mission Valley and the Escondido Program Center costs $45 each way or $90 round trip, though families may also drive campers at no cost. The camp covers 58 acres in the Cuyamaca Mountains, is accredited by the American Camp Association, is entirely tree-nut and peanut free, and has a full-time healthcare staff member living on site; Girl Scouts San Diego camp programming is open to those who identify as girls and to individuals who do not identify with the gender binary, and financial assistance forms are available in the registration account.
