Mataguay Scout Ranch is a 600-acre San Diego-Imperial Council Scouting America property at 27955 Highway 79 in Santa Ysabel that runs a Scouts BSA overnight resident camp each summer. Campers work merit-badge programmes including aviation, which ends in a glider flight at nearby Warner Springs, welding, metalwork, auto repair and painting trades, and take part in high and low COPE, mountain biking, archery, rifle, black-powder and shotgun ranges, canoeing, kayaking and rowing on Lake Dan Henry, and pool swimming, alongside a Pathfinders Trail-to-First-Class programme for newer Scouts. Units book as a group with a minimum of two registered adults, rather than families enrolling individually, and the 2026 season ran as three week-long sessions at $590 per Scout. Partial camperships are available for families needing financial assistance.

I especially love to visit in spring, everything is so green and the weather is great! Camp has seen better days, but everytime I visit I notice that things are getting cleaned up and fixed. It is so wonderful to see so many volunteers taking an investment in the care and upkeep of this awesome property.

★★★★★Jamie KirkIve been coming here for five years and I absolutely love it. There is such a great variety of programs offered from rock climbing to mountain biking to metalworking on top of all of the traditional camp fare, which are all run remarkably well. The staff are super friendly and eager to help. The quality of the food fluctuates from year to year with each new chef, but it averages out to be pretty good with a couple of notable meals every week to look forward to. In addition to all of the scout programs, there is a wealth of opportunity for adults as well from scoutmaster classes to lifeguard training, not to mention free coffee and wifi in the main office. All in all, coming to mataguay is almost always the hilight of my summer.

They also have robotics, shooting sports, horseback riding, and a live radio broadcast for scouts. Good place. Will come again if I can.
