theCoderSchool is a national coding-school franchise, founded in Silicon Valley in 2014 and now over 70 locations, that teaches kids ages 7 to 18 to code in Python, Scratch, JavaScript and more through private and low-ratio classes. Its Cerritos location is at 5100 Orangethorpe Avenue, next to McDonald's and Starbucks. Summer camps run five days with three hours of instruction a day, offered as a morning or an afternoon block and taught in person at the school. Camp themes span video game development, robotics, Minecraft, Roblox, JavaScript with HTML/CSS and mobile game development, with roughly six campers per instructor and camps usually taught by the school's year-round Code Coaches.

Amazing place for our son. We tried many different places for him, and this is the one he loves. It scaffolds and has advanced languages for him to learn. Everyone has been kind and gracious to us, and especially him. Very thankful that we found The Coder School, I highly recommend it!

This review is long overdue. My daughter Ellie has been with the Coder School since she was 6 years old. She’s 11 now and still looks forward to class every week. Over 5 years she’s had several coaches, all of them are super patient and nice. She loves her current coach. Ellie started with Scratch and now she’s creating projects with Python and HTML. She gets some light homework each week so she can practice away from class. There’s a coder fair every year where kids can compete and show their projects to other people. It’s a great way to motivate them to do more creative and challenging projects. Ellie has STEM classes at her school and she excels in them because she's already learned similar concepts at the Coder School. In 5 years, Coder School hasn’t raised tuition once, which I really appreciate. I also appreciate the positive and respectful environment. I’m hearing a lot these days that coding jobs will be lost to AI, but I don’t think it’s entirely true. Maybe AI can do repetitive tasks but the creative and problem-solving aspects will still require humans. Even if AI can replace all coders, learning to problem solve and be creative is always useful no matter the career path.

My daughter started at The Coder School by attending the Minecraft and Roblox summer camps. These fun camps were a great way for her to experience coding through games she already enjoyed. She has been taking weekly lessons. I really like how they took the time to match my daughter with an instructor that would most fit her personality and learning style. Front desk is always friendly available when I have to reschedule a lesson or ask a question. They provided weekly emails that help parents understand what they cover in each lesson and how their child is progressing. I would definitely recommend giving this school a try if your child is interested in coding!

My son has been attending this coding school for a few months now. He always looks forward to his sessions with Coach Oliver. It’s the highlight of his week. We get progress updates after each session and I’m always super excited to read what my child worked on during the session. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The school is clean and organized. I am so glad we found this school as it keeps my child’s busy mind engaged in something he is passionate about.

The Coder School coding class has been the best out of school activity I could have ever chosen for my son. Having a child on the spectrum one can only imagine being hesitant of not only group but 1 on 1 as well, however, The Coder School has such an amazing staff who are not only caring, but patient as well. My son not only looks forward to his Friday classes, but asks when the next Coder camp will be. I recommend this program 100%, one of the absolutely best investments I've made for my son.
