We absolutely love Steve & Kate’s! One of the aspects I value most is the incredible flexibility — there’s no need to commit to an entire week, which makes planning so much easier. My children are consistently engaged, thanks to the wide variety of activities available. From sewing (my daughter now confidently uses a sewing machine!) to basketball, game shows, and go-karts, there’s truly something for everyone, and boredom is never an issue. Another major plus: no need to pack lunches. As a vegetarian family, we were pleasantly surprised by the range of food options available. My child was especially fond of the tomato soup — she enjoyed it nearly every day! We highly recommend the Manhattan Beach location of Steve & Kate’s. It’s been a fantastic experience for our family.

Just sharing our experience so other parents can make an informed choice. We had heard great things about Steve & Kate’s, but unfortunately our experience was concerning. My 4-year-old fell from the monkey bars and ended up needing 4 stitches in the emergency department. At pickup, no staff mentioned the incident. We only found out about it through a voicemail much later. No one tried to reach us via secondary contact numbers. In the voice message it was described just a scrape, but when I removed the bandage soaked with blood later, I was shocked by the seriousness of the wound. What if I let her swim with the opened wound? Possible detrimental complication including but not limited to wound infection ugly scars and life threatening septic shock on this tiny human being? For us, this raised a few concerns: 1. Whether there was enough supervision on the playground for younger kids 2. A lack of timely, direct communication with parents about injuries 3. How injuries are assessed and cared for on-site I understand that accidents happen, but this situation left us feeling disappointed and shaken. I hope our experience can help others ask the right questions before enrolling.

Steve and Kate’s in Manhattan Beach was a well organized, safe, and fun camp for my 5 year old daughter. She made friends with campers and counselors alike and tried new things (baking fairy bread, foam party, silent disco). I was most impressed with the professionalism; never once did I question if she was cared for or accounted for. Thanks for a great summer!

We have been utilizing Steve & Kate's Manhattan Beach for our summer weekends for our second grader Going on three years now. We always have such an exceptional experience and feel like we are VIPs every day we check in. The Manhattan Beach location manager Rachel is like family to us. She makes us feel so welcome and is a huge reason why we return year after year. What a wonderful experience from the skills they train our child as to the fun activities and foam parties. Thank you!

This is absolutely the best summer day camp around for us. We sent our 10-year old son last summer and he is so happy to be back again this year. My son’s review: “Mom, they let you play and read and do what you want to do. But best part is the counselors are really good people. Like really, really nice! They understand kids and are never mean to anyone like counselors are at other camps. And the pizza! It’s so good. You don’t even have to bring a lunch. It’s a 10 out of 10, Mom.” The camp’s approach and the quality of the counselors make all the difference. My son dreads our local school’s after care program that also runs our summer camp at the schools in the Wiseburn area. But he is so eager and excited to go to Steve & Kate’s. It’s 100% worth the slightly longer drive and higher cost for us.
