The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord runs Summer Arts Under the Umbrella, a multi-track arts camp covering drawing and painting, 2D and 3D mixed media, ceramics, woodworking and performing arts. Options include the Umbrella Arts Camp for grades K-6 (full day 9:00am-4:30pm or half day 8:30am-12:00pm), a full-day Teen Program for grades 7-8, specialized 2D, 3D and ceramics studio tracks for ages 8-14, a two-week full-day Performing Arts Camp, and Arts & REC, a joint program with the Concord Recreation Department for grades K-4 that pairs a morning at REC with an afternoon at The Umbrella. The camp is licensed by the local board of health; the 2026 season is listed as sold out.

★★★Frances MeidellThe play was excellent! The actors were excellent! The setting was beautiful and appropriate. BUT we could not hear the dialog especially of the younger actors!!!Every word is important in this fine play! Everyone needed mikes!! Between the young actors' softer voices and the good southern accents, the dialog was incredibly difficult to hear clearly! When the children were up in the gallery during the court proceedings, it was impossible to hear their keen observations! In this day and age, that was a director's decision that should have been overruled! I talked to many audience members of varied ages. The only members who heard the lines were sitting very close to the stage! Please mike as is done on most professional stages these days! Please! Listen so we can all hear this fine production!! Tried the hearing devices but they were useless as the original words could not be heard for amplification!
★★★Steven ShapseOverall, worthwhile seeing. That said, I thought the pacing was off and the delivery of lines was a bit stilted. The southern accents were not well executed, making me wonder if it would have been better to have presented the play using whatever accents the actors had. As well, I felt the acoustics were poor. We were in seats k 4 and 5 and either the actors were undermiked, the amplification was turned down too far or the system inadequate for the space. On the other hand, the price was reasonable, the theater easy to get to and parking not an issue.

The current production of To Kill a Mockingbird is an absolute powerhouse of Massachusetts talent, both union and nonunion talent. It just proves that the talent in Eastern Massachusetts, is incredibly strong regardless of union membership!
