Powered by GoogleLast week I took the sailing basics and ASA 101 course with The Sailing Academy and it was a great experience! I had looked into various places throughout the country to start my sailing journey and I am extremely happy that I chose The Sailing Academy. From the start, Morgan was incredibly helpful with registration and course logistics as well as confirming that having virtually zero prior sailing experience was not only okay, but common for this combo course. Captain Phinehas was phenomenal. He has a calm demeanor and answered all of our group’s many questions in a way only someone with a significant amount of personal practical experience can. We also got to spend the majority of each class day out on the water which was great for hands-on practice. I am already looking forward to taking future courses with The Sailing Academy!
The Sailing Academy's ASA 103/104 program was top notch. Captain Phin, our instructor had an impressive sailing resume and easy manner. The facility/marina was very nice and the Vigo sailboats were new and tip-top. We had a fun week reinforcing and building skills, making new friends and enjoying the comradery of the Bowen family that runs the school.
We had a fantastic time with Capt Phin on a 30ft yacht getting our ASA 101 certification. Capt Phin was patient and pushed us along at a comfortable pace, allowing time for the lessons to sink in before moving on to the next challenge. I would highly recommend The Sailing Academy to anyone young or old (I am 70).
Can't say enough good things about this sailing school and the folks who run it. I took a weeklong ASA combo course here and the experience was fantastic. My instructor was super engaging, fun and knowledgeable about everything sailing. I walked away with not just some pieces of paper as certification, but with confidence and motivation to pursue what I've always wanted to do: skippering a bareboat charter.
If you want to learn to sail this is the way to do it. Our family of 5 learned to sail in the Bahamas with Captain Jeff. It was hard work, rewarding and fun. He was patient, kind and thoughtful with our kids. On top of teaching us all how to sail we swam with the wild pigs, snorkled in sunken ships, fed sting rays, and played on white sand beaches.
