The Paintbrush ... a hands-on ART studio
Private
A hands-on children's art studio in Chicago's Lincoln Park, open since 2005, running week-long summer art camps for ages 4-10. Campers make multiple projects a day - artist-inspired work, color theory experiments, tie-dye, slime, chalk paint, splatter painting, drawing and painting - and get outdoor art and playtime on site, a daily afternoon snack and a Friday popsicle party. Weekly tuition covers all supplies; the studio also runs year-round classes, drop-in art and kids' nights out.
The practical details
We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact The Paintbrush ... a hands-on ART studio directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

Powered by GoogleWe signed our 3 year old up for an 8-week session for ages 2-5 but decided not to finish out the session. Each class introduced a new artist and medium, which was a nice structure. Unfortunately, we found that the majority of the projects weren't developmentally appropriate for the young age range. The projects seemed better suited for older kids with significantly more advanced motor skills. After the second week, our child was the only student enrolled in the sessions we attended, which made the experience feel less engaging. The classes may be a better fit and offer more enrichment for slightly older kids.
I was searching for the perfect activity for a team building event recently and reached out to Melanie at The PaintBrush to see if she'd be willing to do an adult event for our group. She was more than willing and put together exactly what I was looking for: something outside of the box that was fun & engaging that would spark our creativity and foster connection. We did a Jackson Pollock style class out on their front lawn and my entire team had so much fun- turns out they're a bunch of talented artists! We are already looking forward at scheduling another event with her in a few months. Thanks, Melanie!
My daughter Kylin is really enjoying her Sunday Art class sessions! She’s always so excited to share what she’s created and often talks about how kind her Art teacher is. It brings us so much joy to see her having such a positive and meaningful experience. As her mom, I’m incredibly proud of her work and all the fun, creative projects she’s been introduced to. Thank you for making this such a warm, engaging, and joyful experience for her!
My son went to the Paintbrush all the time when he was younger and loved it. They have a great balance of art, music and fun! The teachers are nurturing individuals who help the children have a great time with creative expression. I would recommend this enrichment program to anyone who has children.
The Paintbrush has been a part of our family since they opened in 2005 when my son was 8. He thoroughly enjoyed the classes because of the music that they listened to from the period of the artist of the week. My son is now older and I have gone to The Paintbrush for the Art & Wine Nights. A great, happy place to go and escape into art!!
