Steve & Kate's Camp Bucktown is a day camp for ages 4-12 at 1621 W Wabansia Ave, where campers choose their own activities minute to minute rather than following a set schedule - a Media Lab, Sewing Salon, Bakery, sports, water games, coding and gaming, stop-motion animation and maker crafts. The camp runs 8:00am-6:00pm, and the day pass covers lunch, snacks and all activities. Pricing works on a flexible day-pass system: families buy any number of days to use whenever they like with no weekly reservations, or buy a Summer Pass covering the whole season. The operator has run camps on this camper-led model since 1980.

Powered by GoogleSteve & Kate's is exactly what we were looking for in a summer camp for our 6-year old son, and it did not disappoint. We registered for a membership for the entire summer, which covered us for all of the summer except 2 weeks before school started. After registering for camp, the camp director reached out and met personally with us before camp started to tell us about the camp and answer our questions. The pickup and dropoff were very easy, anytime between 7am and 6pm. Kids were separated by grade and and met with their specific camp counselor to check-in at various points in the day. Lunches were included in the price and my son loved them (e.g. flatbread pizza, tamales, steamed pork buns, grilled cheese), and unlimited breakfast (e.g. oatmeal, bananas) in the morning and afternoon snacks (cricket chips, popsicles). There were such a great selection of activities offered, really there was something for everyone (e.g. sewing, music, games, bread-making), but my son gravitated toward building with blocks, playing foosball with friends, and making stop-action Lego movies (which we could watch at home from our Steve & Kate's account). We are looking forward to camp next year!
