STEM day camp at 1908 Dempster St in Evanston for students entering grades 1-7 (ages 6-12), with a new project theme each week. Each camp day splits into half a day of technology and half a day of engineering, plus outdoor recess, and campers take home the engineering models they build; the student-to-teacher ratio is 8:1 and parents pack a nut-free lunch. The full day runs 8:45am-3:45pm at $500 per week, with optional early care from 8:00am and extended care to 5:30pm. Course themes include 3D game design in Roblox Studio, Minecraft redstone circuitry and architecture, and medieval, marine and aerospace engineering.

★★Stephanie SpringsteenI enrolled my son here for a one week arcade coding camp that was hosted in Skokie Park District facilities. My son enjoyed coding his own little video games. Parents were invited for the last day of camp to see what their students had created. My husband and daughter arrived at camp only to find that all of my son's work had been deleted or lost. He was so disappointed and humiliated that he disappeared into the bathroom to cry. The instructor was either incompetent or disinterested, and was unable to figure out how to recover the work. My son was distraught, and it was a horrible day. Mistakes happen though, so I reached out to Kids Stem Studio. I received a half-hearted apology and was told they would look for his files and get back to me in a few days. They never did. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Student-teacher ratio in the after school program is just right. Tuition is affordable and if any classes are missed they can be made up easily. (PS this is for the Skokie campus).
