The BASE is a Roxbury nonprofit that gives urban youth ages 6–19 year-round baseball, basketball and softball training, conditioning and competition at the Yawkey Urban Sports Complex, with players earning spots on teams that compete locally and travel to regional and national tournaments. Alongside sports it runs academic support, STEM and skill-based learning, college access and career development programming. Membership is by application and the organization publishes a summer schedule rather than fixed-session camp weeks; founded in 2013 by Robert Lewis Jr., it serves over 1,500 young people a year.
