Extremely rude employee checking in people today (Christy) at the check in was rude when trying to assist us with checking in under our family’s account. Took the liberty of talking to my kid without my consent as well asking her first and last name. Ended up just paying the $10 per person ($50 in total) after what felt like an interrogation of our first and last names/accounts and being told our kids couldn’t use the bathroom or get dressed. Will be contacting corporate as well after being a member of the national YMCA for several years I’ve never been treated with such disrespect by an employee. When they told me I could talk to their director I almost laughed after being treated the way I was by Christy any director that let this lady check folks in let alone talk to children in this manner has got to be just as rude and disrespectful 🤷‍♂️. Never been treated like I was a criminal or trying to get something for free. YMCA has a reputation that is currently being tarnished by this employee. I’ll deal with the folks that I know will handle this stuff seriously.

The whole building is overall very clean, but there's a couple of things I will change, literally the adductor/abductor machine, is very flimsy, doesn't work properly (the only one in the whole gym) and a major machine missing in here is a Smith machine, that was crucial for me at another gym, but we switched here because my husband needs a pool. I hope for some changes, than it'll be pretty great!

The Suffolk Family YMCA continues to struggle with lifeguards in their pool. A few of the lifeguards have no concern for the health and safety of the members using the pool. I cancelled my membership this morning because of this issue. There are better and safer options out there, I recommend you pursue them

Wonderful experience at this YMCA. Always clean, the personnel are always pleasant and friendly and the people at the check-in desk are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The instructors are knowledgeable, upbeat and always willing to help your specific issues. Management is attentive and always willing to listen to your concerns. Always a pleasant experience!!!

The YMCA has a lot of great offerings, especially for families and those looking for a community-oriented gym. The staff is generally friendly, and I appreciate the variety of classes and programs available. The pool and basketball court are nice features, and the childcare service is a big plus for parents. That said, the facility could use some updates—some of the equipment feels a bit worn down, and the locker rooms aren't always as clean as they should be. It can also get pretty crowded during peak hours, which makes it hard to enjoy a workout. Overall, it's a solid option if you're looking for an affordable gym with a community feel, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
