Riverside Wellness & Fitness Center runs Fitness Camp, a full-day summer day camp for kids ages 3 to 12 at its 70,000 sq ft Peninsula location in Newport News. Camp runs Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 6:00pm, with indoor and outdoor games, weekly swimming in the indoor pool, arts and crafts, themed camp weeks and pizza Fridays, and the center notes a low child-to-counselor ratio. The camp is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services Child Care Division, and the same program runs over winter break. Registration is in person at the center's front desk and requires a registration packet, a copy of the child's physical, shot record and birth certificate, plus a $40 per-child summer registration fee.

Almost 4 stars and this gym has been around for a long time. Still nice but it seems they are just not getting funding as much anymore. Things break but it took months for the hot tub to be repaired. During that time they could have painted it. Lack of staff and a big one for me is they no longer have towels. They do have funding to take over 1/4 of the gym floor for physical therapy. Would like the towels back and to have everything back to working order. Move your physical therapy somewhere else. Take an indoor tennis court if they need more room for physical therapy. It’s still one of the most comfortable gyms and most likely the best family gyms around. Today is an update 05/22/25 The hot tub has not worked long since the original review. It’s been broken for awhile and it’s broken right now. If you can’t keep it up. That’s a clear sign this place is going to close down. I’d start looking for another gym.

I mostly only use the pool but I’ve been going here for over a year now and I love it. The locker rooms are always clean, the staff are always kind, and the pool facility is great, even though it’s not state-of-the-art. It gets the job done and I appreciate the lap lane designations that don’t always exist at other gym pools.

The reception personnel is very helpful. My dad and I go to the pool and the pool guard ladies are so friendly. The pool is very well maintained ,with ph level checks schedules . Very warm. The family changing rooms are very clean. Some lap swimmers are a little unfriendly but we don't care :))))

This gym is wonderful. I’ve had a handful of bad gym experiences with other gyms but not this one! It’s never crowded when I go and I’m able to get a good workout in without feeling like I’m in somebody’s way or that I’m being checked out the whole time. Everybody is super friendly and always happy to help if needed. I can feel confident and comfortable here and I absolutely love it. Thank you for creating such a wonderful environment!

They have taught all my children to swim, and my middle daughter is now learning strokes to prepare for swim team. I love how in depth the classes go here.
