SPORTIME Randall's Island is the flagship club of SPORTIME and the John McEnroe Tennis Academy (JMTA), running JMTA Summer Training Camps for players ages 5-18 at all levels. Camp days are built on drills, technical and tactical instruction and match play, with campers placed in age- and level/intensity-appropriate groupings; JMTA trains 52 weeks a year and also runs school-break camps. The club sits on Randall's Island in Manhattan and is open to non-members, so membership is not required to attend camp. Daily camp hours are not stated on the SPORTIME camps page.

He structures the session to challenge you to work on your tennis IQ and then concluded the class with match play to test the skills and thinking that you have learned. I started playing tennis when I was 8 years old, and one of the first things I learned was how important silence is for the game. This was my first time at this facility, and when I walked onto the courts there was a group of kids taking lessons, with loud music playing. The sound was really disturbing for any player, because you need to listen and stay focused throughout the whole match. The kids were on the first court, but even on mine the music was so loud that I couldn’t even talk to my opponent. Another issue was the clay courts. They were extremely wet, probably because the courts are indoors and the heat was on, which caused condensation. The surface was much wetter than it should be. Overall, I did like the place—it’s well organized and very clean. But because of the loud music and the condition of the clay courts, I can only give it three stars.

Food service good and nice to have available. A large, excellent facility and there are many good players (some quite young) hitting there with various pros that gives the place an intense tennis-centric atmosphere that is superior to most tennis clubs. I wish they offered more John McEnroe Tennis Academy apparel in a more complete assortment of sizes. Billing and scheduling are accurate and timely. Overall, a large, complete and excellent facility—the biggest, busiest and best in the NYC area.
