South Avenue Arts runs five weeks of art camp for kids, tweens and teens, starting the last week of July and running through August, with a different theme each week. Campers work in a range of media on projects aimed at building art skills, and when weather allows they work outside under a tent as well as in the back studio. The Garwood center at 221 South Avenue also runs painting and drawing classes for children, teens and adults, plus parties and gallery events.

There is a warm welcoming atmosphere in the studio, well equipped and has a variety of different art teachers as well as workshops. I have attended many of the classes and have never been disappointed. Mark Saenger teaches landscape painting and is by far the best art teacher I have ever had. He teaches us the principles of art, does amazing demos, shares the secrets of different techniques that he has learned throughout his career as well as assists us one on one. The owner Sharon is an incredible artist who is always continuing her education to become the best she can be and shares her knowledge with her students. Sharon is extremely helpful to all of us and makes her studios a wonderful place to be.
