Rocky Mountain Theatre For Kids runs week-long youth theatre camps at its Boulder studio, with campers rehearsing and staging a show under theatre professionals who hold at least a BA or MA in theatre. Camps are grouped by age into a Younger Company (5–8), Older Company (8–17) and Teen Company (11–17); most Boulder sessions run full-day 8:30am–3:30pm, with some titles offered as half-days. The program emphasizes a low student-staff ratio and youth theatre training rather than performance experience as a prerequisite.

Powered by GoogleI was hesitant to enroll my 9 year old in a summer camp here, the age range accepted was huge and that’s been an issue before… I made a call and flat out asked them to make me feel better about this, and they did! They spent time answering all of my questions and diving into what the camp entailed. Still skeptical, we made the leap and let me just say, if I could leave 10 stars, I would. It isn’t just the education, the support or even the really rather impressive audition process they have set up, but what got me was the culture they have built. I can’t remember a time where my child has been this enthusiastically and consistently happy over such a long stretch of time. Even with the long hours and hard work, it somehow left her wanting more. Thank you so much RMTC, for providing such a wonderful experience.
My child started doing summer camps with RMTK 11 years ago. Through RMTK and AAPA, she has grown so much as an actor, a member of an ensemble, and as a human. Amazing teachers, varied programming, exceptional community. The arts are so important. Grateful to have RMTK in our community.
We found RMTK through a summer camp when our oldest was 6 years old. Since then both of our children have been part of this family participating in the year round program and summer camps. When I say family, I truly mean it. The coaches/teachers care deeply for our children and they are the most inclusive group of people I've ever met. I've seen our children grow from shy little kids to confident performers over the years. The life skills they learn here are incredible, from how to collaborate with people and form friendships to how to get on a stage and speak in front of people. I can't say enough good things about this program. I highly recommend checking them out.
If you're looking for a fun positive experience for your child in the theater world. This is your place. All the kids are super kind and supportive of each other. Showing how much they love their time here.
I am so thankful that my child is able to take part in AAPA. He started in a camp and moved into the company. The training and experience are high quality, and we've met alums who are doing amazing things. That said, the reason this is such a special place is the commitment that the instructors and staff have in maintaining very high standards for themselves and for the students. I wish they could train our public schools! The respect and values of responsibility and kindness that go along with the high level training make RMTK a place that teaches life skills that apply beyond theater. Finally, it is so much FUN. The theater is full of smiling and content kids who feel great about what they are doing, and embrace challenges.
