Rock to the Future
Private
Rock to the Future is a Philadelphia nonprofit that runs free in-school, after-school and summer music programs for city youth, teaching guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, vocals, songwriting and music production, with band practice and performances at professional venues. Programs cost nothing to join, instruments and supplies are provided, and there are no auditions; some include meals, transportation passes, tutoring and college or trade-school guidance. Its summer camp serves ages 7-17, while the MusiCore after-school track (grades 6-12) asks students to commit to two weekday sessions through the school year plus two weeks in the summer. Participants must live in Philadelphia; the organization also runs programs for youth in the juvenile justice system.
