Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline runs Summer Puppet Adventure, a one-week puppetry day camp for ages 7-14 (rising 2nd-7th graders) taught by working puppeteers. Kids dive into one style of puppetry while sampling others - shadow puppets, sock puppets, marionettes and more - learning hands-on techniques to build their own puppets and practicing performance and storytelling. Sessions run Monday-Friday 9:00am-3:30pm; 2026 dates are Aug 17-21 and Aug 24-28. Rising 7th-9th graders can apply to serve as Junior Puppet Counselors. The theater is a nonprofit supported by the Jim Henson Foundation, the NEA and Mass Cultural Council.

We have been going for a couple of months seen a great variety of shows, puppets and peppeteers and they have been all so good! The staff at the theater is also fabulous very knowledgeable and accommodating. It's very easy to get there by bus or train, the Green Line stops literally in front of the theater which is incredibly convenient. Just a heads up, it's not a big theater and children usually follow the theater rules much much better than their adults.

So were some of us parents. We watched the “Loose Caboose” show and Larry(?) was a great talent. Had jokes for us adults to join in on the laughter throughout the show.
