Private

Peterson Conservatory of Music and Arts runs Sounds of Summer, a residential music camp for musicians ages 10-21 who get daily group and personal training on strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, jazz, vocals and composition. Mornings are symphony rehearsals - campers are split into a Junior Symphony and a Youth Symphony roughly along middle-school and high-school lines - with afternoons for master classes, chamber music, art and drama classes, private lessons and sports fields, and evenings for summer chorale, jazz ensemble, fiddle class, faculty concerts, campfires and dances, closing with a gala concert. Full tuition covers three meals a day and dormitory housing with separate sleeping quarters for girls and boys and adult counselors in attendance; vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free meals are available with notice, and a day-camper option includes everything except breakfast and the overnight stay. The conservatory also runs a Summer Chamber Intensive for ages 13-24 in Stanwood.

Been part of the Mt. Baker Youth Symphony the Petersons run for about 4 years now and have loved every minute of it. They have scholarships available to be part of their programs, and they have scholarships available for colleges. Sharyn and Malcom have continually helped with my musicality and have been so supportive. If you need to borrow na Instrument while being a part of one of their many programs, just ask Sharyn or Malcom. Being a part of their youth symphony has been a huge step up from school orchestra and I have learned so much.

Sharon Peterson and her husband, Malcolm, are musicians who operate a multi-functioning center of learning for adults and youth who learn to play string and brass instruments, perform in concerts and expand their exposure to the world cultures through travel and musical student exchange. Several musical, art and drama groups are included under the PCMA umbrella. Trio Seattle, Starry Night Orchestra, Summer Sounds Musical Camp for youth, and associations with Fidalgo Youth Symphony, Skagit Symphony and other classical performing groups. My husband and I continue to be enthralled with the exceptionally broad and versatile musical ability of the musicians. No matter what the venue. New fliers and posters will be coming soon.
