The University of Lynchburg's Outdoor Leadership Program runs an Outdoor Adventure Summer Camp for youth ages 9-12, led by experienced outdoor leaders on the university's facilities. Campers raft, kayak, fish, rock climb indoors and out, go caving, and work through high and low challenge courses, with an emphasis on leadership and confidence. Camp weeks run in June and July, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at $500 per camper; the program separately trains college students toward outdoor-industry certifications.
