Camp Kum-Ba-Yah
Private
Camp Kum-Ba-Yah Nature Center has run an outdoor-enrichment summer day camp in Lynchburg since 1950, on 47 acres in the heart of the city. The day camp serves children ages 5 to 12 from late June to early August, with swimming, archery, nature hikes, canoeing, fishing, arts and crafts, garden and environmental education, low and high ropes courses, field games and theater; campers often cook their own lunch over an open fire. Tuition is intentionally affordable and scholarships are available.
The practical details
We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact Camp Kum-Ba-Yah directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

Powered by GoogleWe had a conference at this delightful place. I wish I had gone as a kid! So many amazing things to see and do! Absolutely wonderful!
I just left this place for info and a little tour. It was awesome. I definitely want my family to spend more time there.
Great staff! Huge beautiful camp. I love their philosophy on children and the importance of being outside. My children love it here.
I've enrolled my kids every year since 2012. They love it. Lots of activities and the counselors and staff work hard in the heat. It's wonderful. My kids always come home exhausted. Several of them came home having learned how to swim.
My grandson, Baker Giles, attended one session last year and can't wait to come this Summer!
