The Ocala Conservation Center in the Ocala National Forest (Silver Springs) has run residential (sleepaway) outdoor-adventure summer camps for youth ages 8-17 for over 50 years, part of the Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network. Activities include shooting sports (shotgun, .22 rifle, muzzleloader, archery), fishing, canoeing (including an Ocklawaha River trip), and wildlife discovery, with air-conditioned cabins and dining hall. Basic tuition is about $400 per week including meals and lodging; a leadership camp serves ages 16-17.
