*Racist Staff* Would not recommend to any minorities. I’m unsure if some of the staff is racist or just just selective on who they decide to be kind too. I am very disappointed with how I was treated (not like a human being). I am homeless and went with a man who’s also homeless. They let him use the facility/shower and they just let me sit there in shame while he was using it. I even offered to pay for the daily pass but they decided to give me a hard time and denied me for paying for the daily pass. Extremely disappointed and sad with how I was treated. It was very obviously racial discrimination. And I don’t use that term lightly or often at all.

I am extremely disappointed with the treatment my coworkers and I received at the North Haven rec center. We frequently come here to play basketball and have never had any issues in the past. However, during our most recent visit, a staff member approached us in an aggressive and overly assertive manner, demanding IDs, proof of residence, or even a pay stub to prove employment. This was completely unexpected, as these requirements were never mentioned during any of our previous visits. What makes the situation worse is that the sudden enforcement of these “policies” happened only when a group of minorities — Black, Puerto Rican, and other people of color — walked in. The experience felt targeted and discriminatory, and it created an uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment. It is unacceptable for a recreational facility to treat paying community members in this way. Clear guidelines should be consistently communicated and fairly applied to everyone, not selectively enforced based on who walks through the door. I hope management addresses this behavior, because no one should feel singled out or disrespected in a place meant for community and recreation.

We were just here two weeks ago perfectly fine, but today was extremely disappointing. I was denied entry and told I needed extensive proof that I live or work in the area. I explained that I now live in North Haven and even showed packages with my address, but it wasn’t accepted. What’s worse is that this sudden enforcement of new “rules” started after a diverse group—including many people of color—came to play a couple weeks ago. It feels unfair, targeted, and honestly disgusting. We simply wanted to enjoy our time together, and now we’re being told we can’t come anymore. If this is the result of someone’s complaint, it’s disheartening to know that people of color enjoying themselves makes others uncomfortable.

Honestly I loved coming here, I used to live in Bridgeport and came to play basketball for the 18+ all the time, with friends and family coworkers and all. But today was the most disappointing and disgusting experience, two weeks ago we had a nice group of people that all worked together lots of other people came from all over ( PEOPLE OF COLOR AND MINORITIES ) I have been coming here for almost 3 years. Today I get denied to come in I get told I have to show complete legal documentation that I live there and I work there I told them I live in north haven I showed packages going to my house and that I live w my significant other and her family, but because people complained ( THAT PEOPLE OF COLOR ) came in a nice group they want to enforce all sorts of rules, it’s honestly vulgar and disgusting, it was never and issue and now that we as people want to enjoy time with each other we get told we can no longer come congratulations to the person that set this up, glad to know that people of color are intimidating and we make others uncomfortable

This place hasn't changed since I was a kid! It definitely needs to be remodeled, but the staff here are wonderful. Came tonight for a Christmas themed night and all the arts and crafts for the kids were so cute, Santa room was awesome!
