NIU's School of Theatre and Dance runs Theatre Arts Camp, a one-week residential summer camp on the Northern Illinois University campus in DeKalb for students who have completed grades 6-12. Campers rehearse a production each afternoon, take acting classes and daily workshops, and play theatre games and improvisation exercises in the morning, performing for family at O'Connell Theatre on the final Friday. Campers stay in Neptune Hall with a roughly 12:1 camper-to-staff ratio, and the staff is led by NIU theatre faculty and includes NIU students, alumni and guest artists. Registration is open enrollment at $995 early bird or $1,095 after May 1, and need-based scholarship assistance is available.
