The New Bedford Yacht Club Foundation Sailing School teaches sailing to children ages 5–18 from the club's home on Padanaram Harbor at 208 Elm Street, South Dartmouth. Classes are organized by age and skill level, starting with Tiller Tots for five- and six-year-olds — on-shore and on-water activities introducing water safety and sailing — and progressing through instruction on an extensive fleet of Optis, 420s and Sonars. The school instructs more than 200 children each summer.
