Miranda is a staffed backcountry camp on Philmont Scout Ranch, the Boy Scouts of America high-adventure base near Cimarron, New Mexico. Reached on multi-day backpacking treks, Miranda's program recreates fur-trade and mountain-man life, with black-powder rifle shooting, tomahawk throwing, and period skills. It is open to registered Scouts and Venturers who are 14, or who have completed 8th grade and are at least 13. This is an overnight wilderness trek, not a day camp.

Loved the views. Very pretty. Staff was awesome. Tomahawks and powdered rifle was great.
Last night camping before our bus pickup. Nice place to settle in after summiting Baldy Mountain the day before. Black powder riffles were fun, and the show at night was amazing.
One of the most beautiful camps at Philmont. The staff were awesome and the scouts loved "Mountain Ball." Tomahawks, blackpowder rifles, and mountain ball. Awesome.
My boys got to throw tomahawks here and they enjoyed it. We also got a nice rest from the uphill climb. Although it rained that afternoon, we were able to sit inside some of the tepees and hangout. There is running water here and they also provided washboards and small tubs (basins) to wash your clothes in. This is also where we returned our burros that we got from Ponil. There is a great view of Baldy Mountain at the base of Miranda.
