MarineQuest UNCW
Private
MarineQuest is the marine-science outreach program of UNC Wilmington's Center for Marine Science, offering summer camps for children and teens ages 4-17. Junior, intermediate and senior day programs run alongside one- to three-week residential and commuter camps, combining lab and field research with water sports such as kayaking, snorkeling, boogie boarding, fishing and scuba diving. All campers take part in a coastal community-service project.

Powered by GoogleThe experience is a gamble entirely based on which counselor your child gets. If you're lucky, they'll end up with someone patient and kind. But if not, brace yourself, some counselors clearly lack the temperament or training to be working with kids. It’s honestly concerning.
My son did the Surf and Service camp last summer (2024) and loved it. It was very organized. We came in from out of town and rented an Air BNB for the week so he stayed with us. He loved the surfing instruction and the service part was fun as well. We would definitely recommend.
MarineQuest at UNCW is an outstanding program offering amazing science education in a joyful and engaging setting. The experiences are unparalleled for middle and high school students interested in marine science, working with UNCW faculty, staff, and students. Our daughter learned so much and gained personal and intellectual independence and confidence doing the MarineQuest Camp, having lots of fun and adventure too.
