Powered by Google*Child watch review I attended the YMCA this morning for a one-hour fitness class and used the Child Watch service for my one-year-old for the second time. I want to start by saying that childcare inside a gym is extremely important to parents like me, so I do believe the quality of care and interaction matters just as much as any other childcare environment. When I arrived around 9:30 a.m., there were no children in Child Watch and three staff members present. After signing in, I approached the worker in front of me to hand over my daughter. There was no greeting, no smile, and no effort to engage with or take my child from my arms in a welcoming way. I looked toward another worker, who appeared half asleep, rocking herself in a nursing chair without making eye contact. The overall atmosphere felt disengaged and unwelcoming. For children this young, first interactions matter. A simple smile, greeting, eye contact, or an attempt to gently engage the child helps establish trust and makes the separation less stressful for both the parent and the child. I understand that more children may arrive later and the environment can become busy, but when it is calm and there are multiple workers available, I believe more effort should be made to create a warm and attentive experience. If you choose to work with young children, friendliness and engagement should be part of the role. Smiling, acknowledging children, and making them feel safe and welcomed goes a long way for parents trusting you with their child, even for just 45 minutes to an hour.
My wife and I go there to workout and get cleaned up. It has all the equipment we need and the showers are normally always clean, but there have, been, people that have used the bathrooms and showers that haven't cleaned up after theirselves. We / I have usually taken care of it and left the bathroom and shower clean. Thats ok though. Everyone is really nice there and easy to talk to. I'm currently taking some guitar 🎸 lessons there and the instructor Tara is very knowledgeable and patient with us older folks and very respectful. I like her. She does a great job along with everyone else. Over all, a good place to be. I thank them for their services.
I took my first class with Jenna on Saturday morning and it was awesome! High intensity for those of us that desire it, lots of modifications for beginning yogis. She had great energy and good sequencing. If you want a true Vinyasa class at the Y that is challenging and fun, this one is for you!
Ruby Jo is very friendly and is doing a great job greeting the members when you first check in! The atmosphere overall is welcoming and a great place to bring your family and friends to workout! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in getting in shape! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable if you have any questions or concerns! Ruby Jo is great for making sure you are happy with your visit and will help you with your questions and concerns!
I love this Y. The front staff always remembers you, and is ready to help with anything (shout out Ruby Jo)! The Child watch does a great job entertaining the little kids, and even has a room for the bigger kids too. They are always kind to my girls and will help them find the perfect picture to color. Plenty of treadmills and multiple stair masters, a large floor work area with mats. The gym is split in two which keeps it from ever feeling too crowded. The weight room is good. I would appreciate more leg machines. But otherwise it’s a good variety. Lots of classes. There is a meeting room you can book, or you can use as a work space if it’s not booked. 2massage chairs, a water massage bed, and a small sauna. All the bathrooms are very very clean. Really the whole place is very clean. Shout out to the hard working cleaning staff they are doing a wonderful job. I choose this location over others and so do my kids. The cooper location is much closer but the clean atmosphere and everything else here at the Mansfield location that I listed above makes driving here worth it.
