Macomb Family YMCA runs a YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit summer day camp in Mount Clemens, one of eight metro-Detroit Y day camp sites. The summer is divided into eleven themed weeks — from Under the Sea and Wacky Water Week to Prehistoric Adventures and a camper-voted Best of Camp Week — with swimming, field games, crafts and outdoor activities; campers bring a swimsuit, towel and snacks each day. Camps serve ages 3 through 17 with counselor ratios of 6:1 for ages 3-5, 8:1 for 6-8, 10:1 for 9-11 and 12:1 for teens, and many sites are state-licensed and/or ACA-accredited. Financial assistance is available to families who qualify.
