L.L.Bean's Outdoor Discovery Programs run a summer kids' day camp on the shores of Casco Bay in Freeport, with drop-off and pickup at the Flying Point Paddling Center. Small groups guided by instructors try kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, archery, fly casting, geocaching, camp craft, and low and high ropes courses, plus lessons on local ecology and natural history. Camp runs weekdays with drop-off around 8:45–9:00am and pickup at 4:00pm.

Both instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and made the session fun without ever sacrificing safety. They clearly knew how to work with beginners and made sure everyone felt comfortable, confident, and in control by the time we started shooting. The instructions were clear and easy to follow—even if you’ve never handled a shotgun before, you won’t feel out of place. Craig and Payton did a great job breaking everything down and checking in with us individually as we practiced. I left the session feeling much more confident than when I arrived… honestly, it made me want to sign up for a hunting course next. The Outdoor Discovery Program does a great job creating an inviting, well-organized, and professional experience. Highly recommend this class if you’re curious about shooting sports or just want to try something new in a safe and welcoming setting. We’ll definitely be back for another session.

He was very patient and gentle as he gave you instructions on your posture, which is the dominant eye and how to be safe at all times. I would definitely recommend that you should put archery is on your to do list when you visit Maine. So take the LL Bean class, you would have a great time with Mark and Jay.
