La Petite Baleen is a year-round indoor swim school offering group, semi-private, and private lessons for infants and children age 2 and up (through adults). The Half Moon Bay site is one of four Bay Area locations and follows the school's own progressive, award-winning curriculum rather than a distinct summer day-camp format. Enrolled members get free family swim and seasonal drop-in lessons during summer.

The HMB location is filled with bright, natural light and has a cute little playground in front with whale swings for the kids to run around before/after class. We started baby and me lessons at 10 weeks with Cindy and then progressed into the toddler and me class with Sophie. Both teachers are fabulous - Cindy is super patient and gentle with the babies, Sophie fun and flexible enough to handle toddler meltdowns. Thank you Cindy and Sophie for helping our 2.5 year old son learn to love the water!! He always asks me when is swim class every week and can't wait to splash around once he gets in! As a former D1 college competitive swimmer - I have tried taking my son swimming at other local pools but nothing is as good as the LPB classes in HMB, it's worth it. He loves swimming with his toddler friends and the playful/ song based curriculum makes such a huge difference in motivating him to actually learn swim skills vs just play with toys in the water.
