Menlo Swim & Sport runs week-long summer swim camps for kids ages 5-14 at its Menlo Park pool, blending daily 30-minute swim lessons and swim workouts with free swim, land games, and crafts, grouped by skill level. Campers bring their own lunch; a separate junior camp serves younger children.

Powered by Google“Unfair placement and inconsistent standards” My 7-year-old son is a recreational swimmer in altos swimming club and at the same time, he is studying swimming in burgess pool. He officially graduated Level 2 and meets all the Level 3 entry requirements listed on their website. However, because his current classmates are much older and taller, the coach wants to move him back down, claiming he isn't as "fast and strong." It’s ridiculous to penalize a child for his age and stamina when he has mastered the actual milestones for the level. They should stick to their own curriculum instead of comparing a 7-year-old to much older kids. Very discouraging and unprofessional!
We signed up for winter swim session. Things seemed ok. Then, without any notification from the school or instructors the session rolled over and our spots were given away. This and as I looked multiple instructors during the time we are there are doing nothing. No students to teach. We won’t be coming back.
Really warm, kid-friendly pool. We started by taking classes here, but actually prefer coming during open rec swim. It's less busy and more flexible for our schedule. My one wish would be that there are more baby-friendly changing options - when both family rooms are used up, it can be really hard to find a clean, flat surface to change your baby on (especially when it's cold outside!).
When I started using this facility a couple of years ago, I gave the 5 stars. it was really great. Friendly staff, clean conditions, many swim hours for laps in the warmer pool. A few months ago the heater broke for weeks at a time and the warmer pool was unusable for many of us. Apparently the management has been in a financial battle with the City of Menlo park in providing community swim hours. Recently they planned to close during mid day hours and practically no laps in the warmer pool in the afternoon. Many seniors prefer warmer water for therapy swimming. The locker rooms are in poor condition and the swim suit spinner finally broke permanently and there seems to be no plan to replace it. Finally, some staff and attendants are unfriendly and respond confrontationally when asked about closing laps early or do not place lifeguard training in the schedule which results in fewer laps unannounced. Furthermore, they have a very complicated and changing timetable Maybe the city can improve the condition by more funding but also holding them up for better conditions. Raising fees by a couple of $ for community swimming should be allowed if they keep the pool open mid day. As is it is not providing adequate laps in the warm pool given the number of swimmers . .
Their classes booking is a pain. They have very short seasons of 6 classes and 2 independent classes in-between seasons. We need to book these atleast 1 month ahead. Though that's the least of the problem, parents like me are spending an hour to figure out schedules and classes that have openings. All this effort is for 6 classes at a time. Is this worth the effort for 6 classes at a time, which they call a season? The instructors are good and the quality of classes are good. My kids enjoy the classes. They need to tighten up the system/process.
