JCC Camp Komaroff
Barbara and Ray Alpert JCC (JCCA)
Camp Komaroff is a Jewish day camp on the Weinberg Jewish Long Beach Campus, running since 1960. Campers are grouped by grade - Anakim for TK-1st, Kochavim for 2nd-3rd and Nesharim for 4th-5th - swim in the Mary Alpert Pool and take a field trip every Thursday to destinations such as Knott's Berry Farm, Tanaka Farms, the Natural History Museum and Discovery Cube, with some late-night and overnight trips. Weekly specialty tracks cover art, cooking with a chef, Lego, futsal soccer, martial arts and basketball, and specialty campers rejoin traditional camp on field-trip days. Core hours are 8:00am-4:00pm with morning care from 7:30am and evening care to 5:00pm for an added fee; the camp states staff ratios of 1:5 for the youngest campers and 1:6 or 1:8 for older groups. Camperships are available, and the camp also runs school-break camps at Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, winter break and spring break.
