Indian River Y is the BEST YMCA in all of South Hampton Roads!! This has been my home Y for over 10 years and they give you a true sense of community! While smaller than others, it packs everything you need for a great gym session, from the friendly staff, welcoming stay and play, clean facilities, sauna AND steam room, indoor pool AND hot tub, low crowds, great classes, family programs, and a wide open wellness floor. Brianna is a PHENOMENAL Membership Experience Director and she really listens to the members needs. Nelson, Jaseona and the rest of the front crew greet all members by their name and with a friendly smile. Trainers Morgan, Debra, Will, and Torre are very knowledgeable and give their clients specialized training that they need. Ms. Carol in the stay and play engages with the children and loves on them as if they are her own. I love this Y! The staff is amazing and it will be my gym till the end of time. Thank you Indian River Family YMCA!

The staff is friendly and welcoming, but this locations management picks and chooses what policies they want to have in place. Been a member for over 25 years only to see them continously create an environment which makes one want to find other options to use.

Not sure what’s going on but just in my world at least something broke ever time I come in sauna hot tub clothes, grinding machine in the men’s bathroom. It looks like they need to be painted to pools and stuff. It’s just needs to be cleaned up and it’s somebody needs to put some money in it or something.

Not sure where I should start but I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anybody for childcare specifically. My child was constantly bullied while he was there. He also attended the summer camps at different locations and the bullying continued there. Was I notified properly?!?, no… The staff are supposed to call you whenever an incident happens and I was notified once out of the 6+ times something happened. From being kicked in the neck to being slapped by other children. Not to mention the staff tried to blame my son on some instances instead of making sure the other children keep their hands to themselves. I will not be returning to the facility. Seek childcare elsewhere because it’s obvious the young adults working here don’t look after children as they should. The director, Gereka, was helpful in solving some issues. That’s the only good thing I can say.

Just made a new membership here, and Nelson and McKenzie were the staff who helped check me in! They provided truly exceptional customer service!! They were incredibly kind, attentive, and patient throughout the entire process. They went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcomed, informed, and excited to get started. This facility is wonderful, with so many workout options to accommodate a variety of needs and goals. Thank you, Nelson and McKenzie, for an amazing first impression and for setting the bar so high with your outstanding professionalism and hospitality!
