Imagine Works Youth Theatre runs a Summer Musical Theatre Intensive for kids and teens ages 8-17, a three-week performance camp that runs roughly late June through mid-July, 9:00am-3:30pm, ending in performances on an Off-Broadway stage at The Players Theatre. Campers are grouped 10-12 per class: younger campers work on voice, drama, and dance fundamentals, while older campers take on audition technique, scene study, on-camera commercials, improvisation, and hip hop, jazz, and tap. The pre-professional program is based at 115 MacDougal Street in Manhattan; posted tuition is $1,050 for the full three weeks and includes headshots.

I have seen shy children become scene stealers and all talent levels nurtured. While there is a final production, Imagine Works summer theater program also spends time teaching its kids how to grow as performers. My son was lucky enough to be part of Imagine Works theater programs in 2020. During this year, to be safe, Imagine Works experimented with how to teach theater and perform using Zoom and in-person class at an outside venue (Central Park). Jill and her team were amazing.
