The Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program is a nonprofit teaching safe, responsible boating and environmental awareness on the Merrimack River in Lawrence. Its ten-week summer program offers water- and land-based activities seven days a week, including learn-to-sail, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and rowing; children ages 9 and older can be dropped off daily, while families with children 8 and under can use family boating time with an adult. Youth membership for ages 9–18 is $50 for the entire summer, and scholarship applications are available at the front counter.

My son attended the Lawrence Community Boathouse summer camp this past summer and absolutely loved it! It was a struggle just to get him in the car to go home each day. The staff is wonderful—patient, encouraging, and really invested in the kids. He learned so much about sailing, water safety, and teamwork. I also appreciate that the boathouse is well known for giving back to the community. My son already can’t wait to go back every year and hopes to one day become a member of the team.
Fantastic program for kids to learn sailing. Run perfectly by passionate management and very affordable for kids thanks to generous donations from the community
