Powered by GoogleWhen you sign your kid up for this league, you need to go into it with the mindset that they are going to get hurt. The officiating is terrible and they don’t call fouls. When coaches and parents try to address this safety issue, they are dismissed by the officiants and higher GABL staff. My second grader’s game today was more like an MMA match. Not safe! Bring the slings and band-aids! Your kids will need them!
This review is for the 3v3 level (K). Great if you live in an affluent area with a lot of school/parent participation. I would recommend at least 6 on a team. We had 4 (after being assured it would be fine) and it was difficult at times. Other teams had 10 or more players--which wasn't great for them either. The ref/game manager situation varies from game to game from being highly experienced and effective to basically not even being present or enforcing any of the stated rules. This made it difficult to provide the learning environment that the 3v3 program claims to be. Pre-game instruction is very minimal. One time there wasn't any at all. We will be looking at other leagues for our next playing season.
Last year was our first year playing in this league and I wasn’t impressed. The second year was even worse than the first. The refs are absolutely horrible and let the games get totally out of control. Kids are going to get hurt playing the way they let some of these teams play. There’s no accountability. They don’t even follow their own rules.
We have been playing with GABL a few years now. The registration fee continues to increase year after year, yet the officials do not follow their own leagues rules. This results in kids being hurt, and it doesn't provide the right fundamentals for them to learn. Traveling is Traveling, a foul is a foul, a double dribble is a double dribble. Frustrating paying money for the league to not follow their own rules.
GABL FUTURE 2029 BLACK is coached by the worst type of coaches. The way he’s taught his players to play defense is to push with two hands when you get beat, flex on players to receive technicals, and to cry when calls don’t go your way. And the parents on this team are absolutely revolting-cheering for fouls their kids make, booing, and taunting. Two players and their dads are absolutely disgusting. Shame on GABL for allowing such behaviors. Guess it’s always money over everything.
