BEWARE! I enrolled our daughter in 2 weeks of camp after reviewing their website and seeing the various mediums they were going to "teach" her how to use. $1000 later and there is nothing to show for it. Now I don't care about her coming home everyday with a project completed or even every week. I have a BFA myself so well understand art as a process. And less than finished projects I thought she would be provided with guidance on certain skills that need to be learned and which can cause many kids to give up on creating art at her age because they just don't know how to do something. Their website makes it seem like they have distinct classes throughout the day. Instead my daughter worked on drawings of pokemon throughout the day with little to no instruction or guidance. She did mention day 2 someone helping her learn how to layer colors on a preprinted coloring page. I am so disappointed and angry and feel like this place misrepresents what they offer. If they were up front about creating an environment for kids to be self directed with art without a published schedule at least I'd know what I was signing up for. When I spoke with the person in charge (manager? owner? She never introduced herself) I was told that my daughter had selected to sit by herself and that they provide a stress free environment for creating art. I would have liked to be informed that this was happening so I could check in with my daughter but instead I was only told this when I expressed anger at wasting my money. Feel free to give them your money if you'd like to spend your it on glorified babysitting.

I have heard a lot of amazing things about this school so I signed up for my two kids. The older one picked up on the program quicker and she was able to apply the technique that she didn't get to learn through other art classes. I had them take park districts' art programs and young rembrandts after school which I still love, but this school offers something so special and fundamental for all ages and just even for all people that no other place have. It is a bit far from where I live but when my kids show me their proud works after classes, I was very happy with how happy they were and so darn proud it was cute and I loved the results as well. I gotta tell you, my older one took like 2 classes, learned shading technique and she has been using that and improved as she aged. Her "casual" work got selected by art teacher and displaced on design museum of chicago in downtown. That was so cool. All she did was applying what she learned through their curriculum, she had health issue popped up during covid yrs so she couldn't keep attending schools and programs like this but I wonder how much she could've improved the way she can see things differently if she kept on going. Her sister got to go though- There are awesome art works displaced on the wall, my younger one gets motivated and almost like inspired when she is there. I admire how passionately the school wants for kids to learn not just praise and coddle. My younger one came home from other art programs with drawing that looked like ?????^&**(**(&*^&$%$^&*(&(*)??????? and the teacher just approved the result when I spend tuition ? Well, they get the social interaction with other kids that is good but she really didn't learn anything so that was disappointing, but with this school, even younger ones showed improvements that made me filled with joy. I can't say enough good things about this school.
