Camp Gan Shalom is a Jewish day camp run by the Jewish Federation of the Greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys, meeting at the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center and at Temple Beth Israel in Pomona. Kehillah campers entering grades K-5 do traditional camp activities including competitive sports, arts and crafts and cooking, pick a weekly specialty such as dance, soccer, cake decorating or weaving, and choose daily afternoon electives; weekly field trips go to water parks, beaches and state parks. Manheegim campers in grades 6-8 take a field trip nearly every day and plan and run Friday programming for the younger campers, and Fridays close with a Shabbat programme that parents are invited to. Camp runs 9:00am-3:30pm with before- and after-camp care available, in eight one-week sessions - six in Pasadena and two in Pomona - and financial assistance is available.

It’s a Reggio Jewish school which works surprisingly well.
