Friendly Pines is a traditional overnight camp in the Bradshaw Mountains outside Prescott where campers choose their own schedule from more than 30 activities, including horseback riding on a string of 50-plus horses, canoeing, archery, ropes courses, swimming, tennis and arts and crafts. Sessions run one or two weeks for boys and girls ages 6-14, who sleep in insulated redwood cabins with indoor bathrooms in groups of four to eight. The 130-acre property sits at 6,300 feet in the Prescott National Forest, with a creek, lake, pool and riding arenas, and the camp is screen-free. Family-owned since 1941 and ACA-accredited.

★★★★★Amy DavisWe sent our 10 y.o. son here for a one-week session this summer based on a family member's recommendation. This was his first sleepaway camp experience, and he loved it. He said it was a 10 out of 10 on the "fun meter" and he enjoyed the other campers. His highlights included the campout, fencing, western riding, and seeing so much local wildlife (deer and even an elk!). He's looking forward to next year already! And his younger sister is excited to join him. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. In addition, we traveled out of state for him to attend the camp, and we felt the camp was organized and very responsive to any questions we had as we got him ready. The grounds are also well-maintained and all staff members I interacted with were helpful and friendly.
★★★★Silvia EI came here for a weekend trip and honestly had an absolute blast. My ONLY complaint is that I stayed in the Log House and there was no AC BUT I slept in the living room and the couches were super comfy and there was a fan there I pointed at me. The bathrooms in the rooms upstairs are pretty small but they do the job. Location though GREAT, and the amount of activities was amazing. I went with Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) so not sure what was part of BOW and what was part of the camp but overall I definitely want to go back.
