Chauncey Ranch is a 5,000-acre working ranch camp on the Agua Fria River near Mayer, owned and operated by the Valley of the Sun YMCA and reopened in 2019. Its summer program centers on horses and ranch life, with ring riding and a range of horse camps for roughly ages 9-16, plus high ropes, archery, rock climbing, canoeing, swimming, paintball and arts and crafts. The ranch also runs equestrian and outdoor education for schools and community groups and hosts family and group retreats.

Our kids were asking if we can come back next year before we even left. Our daughter who has ongoing problems associated with early childhood trauma initially didn’t even want to touch the climbing equipment but she ultimately made it half way up the rock wall.
