Powered by GoogleWe were YMCA members from 2020 until recently, when we moved and canceled our membership. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple process turned into one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've had. Even after our membership was canceled, the YMCA continued charging us for the 24-hour access add-on. There is no option in the member portal to remove this charge, so I had no choice but to call member services. It took four separate phone calls, each involving approximately 30 minutes on hold, before I was finally able to reach someone. The representative acknowledged the issue and canceled the add-on, but refused to refund the charges that had been incorrectly billed after the membership itself had already been canceled. Even more frustrating, she would not handle the matter internally and instead tried to pass the burden back to me by directing me to make additional phone calls. When I explained that the YMCA should be responsible for correcting its own billing mistake, the response was essentially, "Sorry," and the conversation was ended. Mistakes happen. What matters is how an organization responds when they occur. I expected far better from an organization that promotes values like integrity, honesty, trust, and respect. Instead, I spent hours trying to correct a problem I didn't create, only to be told that fixing it was my responsibility. The YMCA does great work in many communities, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I hope leadership takes a hard look at their billing and customer service processes so future members are treated in a manner consistent with the values the organization claims to uphold.
I’ve had a generally positive experience at the Fishers YMCA. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and offers a welcoming environment. The staff has been friendly, and I appreciate the variety of amenities available, including the workout areas and overall atmosphere—it’s a place that truly promotes health and community. However, I did experience an unfortunate incident during one of my visits. After checking in and completing a short workout, I returned to my locker and found that my belongings had been disturbed, and my wallet and chaplain’s badge were missing. (the items were locked with a very small combination lock) I immediately reported the situation to front office. While I understand that situations like this can happen anywhere, I would encourage members to be mindful of securing their belongings and for the facility to continue reinforcing safety measures in locker areas. Customer Service is terable. Called multiple times to get help with my particular issue that I was having. No one called back after calling 20 times. Overall, I still value the YMCA and what it represents, and I hope this feedback helps improve awareness and security for all members.
Just want to shout out the Fishers YMCA lifeguard Justin N. Whenever I come to the Fishers Y and need a swim Im hoping to see him in there. He usually sees me first and is always looking to make sure I have whatever I need to have a good experience. If I forget my goggles or need help finding a lane to swim or just if I have any question or concern he’s on it. Super positive attitude and eyes always focused on the water. He’s a pro and this coming from a guy who grew up at the YMCA and guarded their pools for over 10+ years.
YMCA has been a wonderful place for our daughters for the past five years, ever since they were babies. The staff feel like family, always kind and caring. Our girls especially love the outdoor water area and have so much fun there. The facilities are always clean, safe, and welcoming. We highly recommend YMCA for families! 2022/2026
We have been members at Fishers Y for a few years now, all of the staff have been amazing until our most recent visit. We took advantage of open swim for the first time and left feeling very disappointed. The lifeguard Cassidy was extremely rude and had a terrible attitude. We had a child with us who is special needs and she was not understanding at all. She was stomping around the pool deck and slamming doors shut behind her. I watched her walk over to the lap pool waving her arm in the air shouting across the lap pool to another employee. If she can’t keep her cool with children I’m not sure that I’d feel very safe with her handling an emergency situation.
