Yacht club junior sailing program offering classes for kids from grade school through high school at all experience levels on Fishers Island. These are short lesson sessions rather than a day camp: Novice (minimum age 6), Intermediate (suggested ages 8-10) and Advanced/Racing (suggested ages 9-12) each meet three times a week for one hour and forty-five minutes at $175 per week, while Sailing Adventure (ages 10 and up) meets twice a week for two hours at $150 per week. Novices sail prams and Optimists with one to two sailors per boat and a junior instructor when available. Registration opens in early June and families may sign up any time during the summer up to 24 hours before a lesson.

The marina was wonderful Beth the manager and the two John’s were accommodating and the bathrooms were super clean and updated making it a really nice place to stay. The beach which is a public beach is about a three minute walk away and it’s Sandy and lovely. You need to know that fishers Island runs on its own time. There’s no Uber, no taxis and not a lot of places to go to which was just fine as it was super quiet and the people were super friendly which to be honest with you I was not really expecting. There is a market that’s open from 730 to 5 but closed on Sundays and one restaurant the Pequot which is supposed to open at five but this particular day they weren’t really ready until six. On the mainland that might’ve bothered us but here people just took it in stride. The food there was excellent the service was excellent, drinks were a little pricey but the food was reasonable and tasty. If you want a party atmosphere this is no place for you if you want a really quiet getaway, it’s really nice and someday I hope to explore more of the island
