Fishburne Military School is a boys' boarding school in Waynesboro that runs two residential summer programs. The 4-Week Summer Session (June 21 - July 17) is for boys in grades 7-10 and blends academic reinforcement and study-skills work with daily athletics, leadership development and outdoor adventure inside a structured military framework; it suits students prepping for the coming school year or considering enrolling at Fishburne. The 2-Week Military Leadership Camp (July 5-17) is for rising 11th and 12th graders exploring military service, ROTC scholarships or the service academies, and covers physical training, leadership challenges, field exercises, SAT improvement and mentorship from retired military professionals. Both are overnight programs with room and board included; Fishburne has held the U.S. Army's JROTC Honor Unit With Distinction rating for over 40 years and hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs accredited by U.S. Army Cadet Command.

After spending two transformative years at Fishburne, we saw a complete change in his mindset and outlook on life. He returned to us more respectful, disciplined, and grateful, not just toward us, but in how he carried himself in every aspect of life. The staff at Fishburne was always supportive, approachable, and deeply invested in his growth. The athletic department, in particular, played a significant role in his development. Coach Waters, the wrestling coach, was phenomenal—always guiding and mentoring our son with patience and strength. He developed a passion for wrestling and also enjoyed being a part of the soccer team, excelling in both. These experiences taught him the importance of accountability, teamwork, and commitment. We are genuinely grateful to the entire Fishburne community—the instructors, the coaches, and the administrators—for helping shape our son into the young man he is today. The only reason we decided to bring him back home is that he is our only child, and we wanted to spend the last two years of high school with him. Otherwise, we would have gladly left him at Fishburne to finish his education. We cannot say enough good things about this school. It provided our son with the foundation he needed, and for that, we will always be grateful.
★★★★★Darin AlvisI went to Fishburne for 3 years and graduated in 2001. I was sent because of family tradition both my Dad and Grandfather graduated from Fishburne. I thought it was going to be a terrible expirence having to leave my friends at home and the band I was playing in ( I played the drums). Fast foward as my first year was ending I had made a lot of good friends and had many experiences that I would have never got at public school. I was hooked and was already looking forward to the next year. In my second year at FMS we started a pep band for the basketball games and had a whole lot of fun. Their are really too many good memories to recall, rather it be pranks done in the barracks or sporting events of all kinds, Raider team, obstical courses drama club and of course let's not leave out the good old fashioned gang fights with the townies. The teachers at FMS are top notch! I always had horrible grades in public school but the teachers at FMS will spend extra time with you if you are not understanding the curriculum. So many good teachers, So many good friends. Also very good ROTC and TAC Officers. It was an experience that I will never forget and strongly reccomend to possible future cadets!

After 54 years still stay in touch with my fellow cadets and attend alumni weekend every five years . My experience at FMS was a career builder, but I knew I wanted to carry on our family farming heritage ( since 1868 ) , but my experience at FMS carried on to our 3 sons teaching them drive and desire, and responsibility which FMS instilled in me , Great school period! ★★★★Gene MoserI entered Fishburne at 13 in 1957 and was graduated in 1961. It was a fantastic experience. The school has changed over the years, but in general, it is the same superior institution that Professor Fishburne desired and created. My life would be much diminished had I not had the Fishburne experience. Because of FMS, I was able to teach in the Hampton public schools and retire as a decorated field artillery lieutenant colonel as well as publish two novels and several short stories and poems. Do not hesitate to send a son or nephew to this grand place.
