Evergreen Recreation Center hosts one of the City of Wichita's Summer Activity Camps, a full-day municipal day camp running roughly late May through late July (10am–5pm). Campers enjoy swimming, field trips, games, crafts, movies and enrichment such as cooking and reading, with a free summer lunch provided in partnership with USD 259 and weekly field-trip admission included in the fee.

All I can speak to is the facility is very nice and warm on this 20° evening. There is at least one mural on the outside of the recreation building that is absolutely beautiful. I would enjoy displaying a print of it in my home. The mural is of an indigenous person wearing, what I would describe as a ceremonial mask of feathers. I found it very moving. I could make out the the eyes of the subject before it became too dark this evening. . . they appeared very powerful. When leaving, after my appointment, it was too dark to make out the warrior's eyes. However, the feathers of the mask remained vibrant even in the darkness. I hope the reader will go see it and any others at this location. I will certainly return for a viewing in the daylight.
