This is my home gym and I have many reasons to love this place. Equipment maintenance, facility maintenance and sanitation is really on the decline. What once was the nicest gym. Is heading its way toward the previous location. To be expected to some degree. Seems quicker than it should be though. Buckets in broken sink on gym floor for months. Restrooms all smell awful and toilets not flushing. Locker room floodi g every few months. Its just kinda saddening.

This gym has an awesome view and a lot of cardio, lacks weight equipment. T here are Lot of popular machines that they only have one. My only real beef is the morning staff is by far the most unfriendly crew of any Y I have been.

I came here to swim with my family. During this time, the lifeguard, Xavier, was very rude to us. We come swim every Sunday and have never had any problems before. Xavier walked up to us in the pool with a negative tone and told us “There is no affection allowed in the pool. There are kids here.” We returned to swimming, trying to enjoy a nice day together as a family. However, Xavier came up to us many more times to remind us that “there are kids in the pool.” He even corrected my child, a kid, with this same statement. We were not being inappropriate in any manner. We were simply trying to have a fun time swimming together as a family. We became uncomfortable with the situation and were no longer having fun, so we decided to leave. I saw a man in passing when I was in the family locker room who had a ymca lifeguard hoodie on and asked him if he was the manager. He said “yes.” I replied kindly with, “I’d like to speak with you.” He heard me, laughed and walked away. I found this extremely inappropriate as I simply wanted to share my concerns with him and he shrugged me off like I was some kind of joke. The ladies at the front desk Tonya and her friend (can’t remember her name) were very kind and understanding. They listened to me and made me feel heard. I likely will not be back again after this experience.

Having been to all the YMCA's in Wichita, the downtown one is my favorite. It has the most space, its very open, it makes it feel less crowded even when there are a lot of people. The pool is great and we'll maintained as well. Separate mens and women's saunas are also nice. As a whole it's definitely my favorite YMCA location. Love the track up top, which you can see all of downtown from, seeing the cathedral next door, its a great and very chill place.

Very clean, friendly staff and a lot of great class choices. If you don't want a class there is a gym with a ton of equipment, a walking track and plenty of open swim times. It is downtown Wichita but feels very saft. Downfall is that parking seems a bit limited.
