Powered by GoogleGrateful that there's a Y in this small town. The place is friendly, and most of the equipment is in good working order. The men's steam room is awesome: gets hot n steamy in just a couple minutes. The sauna has the potential to be a good experience, but I've never seen a sauna room that takes so long to get heated up. We're talking 2 or 3 hours to reach Palm Springs temps (115 degrees-ish), so if you're there for the sauna, don't come in early enough that you're the first to turn it on or you'll lose half the day waiting for it to get above 125 degrees, which is still low for a sauna and is the hottest I've ever seen it get to. Rumor has it that one of the heat elements isn't working. Seems like that oughta get fixed then.
I grew up in the Elkins Y and now, at 78 years of age, it is the best it has ever been! Wonderful place, spotlessly clean, fully equipped, great pool.
Stopped here for a quick workout and shower while passing through Elkins – Tim was very nice and helpful in getting me setup as a visitor and pointing me in the right direction. He even searched around for a towel for me. Thanks Tim!
Nice facility and very clean. Staff is wonderful. New men's steam room and nice pool. Most economical if u live in Elkins, in my opinion.
Our travel team called 3 months in advance about playing in their annual tournament. We were told we good to go and one of the first. Then due to paperwork that they gave 4 days to round up parents for signatures and registration we were told we could not participate. They should have to refund the hotel reservations that parents who have made plans to attend. Truly disappointed in the YMCA of Elkins and how they handled the situation. Call me old fashion but when someone tells you from their mouth and says "we are glad to have you, we have you down just bring or send the paperwork when you can" I take that as that our team will be participating. Dont just send a text to a phone saying we need paperwork immediately. Pick up the phone and call.
