The National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp) is a highly selective, free four-week residential STEM program near Bartow in the Monongahela National Forest, run by the National Youth Science Academy. Two students from each state and DC are chosen after high school graduation to attend lectures from prominent scientists, hands-on science activities and outdoor recreation. All delegates attend free of charge.

★★★★★William BlairNYSC '66 NC Delegate. What else is there to say? You either know (of) this place or you don't. It set me on the path that would lead to my professional career. Nothing has changed at Camp Pocahontas (nor should it ever). It, along with The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, are the two most wonderful places in Almost Heaven. Camp Pocahontas is a 4-H camp (still, it appears), and is not exactly primitive, but basic is not quite an appropriate description (there is a nice dining hall, for example). But when it's closed and not in use, there is nothing to see (other than memories). Not much has changed in 55 years, however, and that IMHO is exactly how it should be.

There's daily lectures by NASA scientists, professors of biomedical engineering, physics, mathematics, and more. There's also a few fun safe surprises to keep the 4 week camp exciting.
