The first serious issue was when my daughter’s necklace—a meaningful and personal item—was taken off by one of their temporary coaches and never returned. It was essentially stolen. I was never contacted, the necklace was never handed over to staff, and no one took any accountability. When I brought it to the owner’s attention, he was completely dismissive and rude. He offered no apology, no solution, and acted as if theft by his staff wasn’t his concern. That was a huge red flag. The second major issue was when my daughter broke her arm. I personally went to the facility and handed in a doctor’s note explaining she wouldn’t be able to attend. Despite this, they continued charging me for the months she didn’t attend. When I asked for a refund, they claimed they couldn’t do anything because I didn’t send an email—completely ignoring the fact that I had spoken to them in person and provided medical proof. They still have not made it right. What’s worse is that even some of their former coaches have said this place has a reputation for keeping money they shouldn’t and refusing to issue refunds. That’s theft, plain and simple. Between the stolen necklace and the money they refuse to return, this place has proven to be dishonest and untrustworthy. I would never recommend this school to anyone. They do not care about their students or their families—only the money.

I would highly advise against trusting anything they provide in terms of policies or documentation. They can simply make up whatever suits them and refuse to honor their own guidelines. If you're looking for transparency and honesty, this is definitely not the place for your child. I would highly recommend avoiding this gym. We had a terrible experience with both the communication and honesty here. First off, when our coach resigned, we received no official communication from the gym — we had to find out directly from the coach. This lack of transparency is already frustrating enough, but it only got worse. The owners' behavior was completely dishonest when it came to the competitive fees. They referenced non-existent "policies" to justify unreasonable charges, and when we asked for a clear breakdown, we were just met with silence. We even requested a copy of the budget document as per their own “East Bay Gymnastics Competitive Teams 2024-2025 Season Handbook," but despite our formal request, there was absolutely no response. This is a huge red flag. It seems like they are more than willing to make up rules and completely disregard their own stated policies.

My daughter had been in recreational gymnastics for a while, and we were so excited to join East Bay Gymnastics. At first, I would have given this gym 5 stars, but right after we started, there was a major change in the program. It took some time for the coaches to fully adapt to the new system, which was a bit of an adjustment period for everyone. However, the front desk staff was amazing at keeping us informed and explaining everything that was happening, which really helped ease the transition. Despite the changes, my daughter absolutely loves her coach and has benefited so much from the updates to the lesson plans. She has grown so much as a gymnast in just a short time and has really started to excel. I’m so happy we stuck with it and would absolutely recommend East Bay Gymnastics!

Our experience with the competitive gymnastics team at East Bay Gymnastics has been nothing short of amazing! After training at another gym nearby, my daughter wanted a program that could better support her passion for competitive gymnastics, and this gym has exceeded our expectations. We know there have been a lot of changes at the gym recently, but it’s clear they are working so hard every single day to create a great environment for the athletes. From the moment we joined, everyone has been incredibly welcoming and friendly, making the transition smooth and positive for our family. A special shoutout to Coach Kimmy, who has been a game-changer for my daughter. Her knowledge, encouragement, and personalized approach have already made a huge impact. Kimmy knows how to push the athletes to be their best while keeping the environment positive and fun. My daughter is not only growing as a gymnast but also as a confident and determined young athlete. If you’re looking for a gym that combines competitive excellence with a supportive community, East Bay Gymnastics is the place to be!

I am sad to give such a low rating, but I feel an obligation to let others know what is happening at this gym. It is under new ownership and unfortunately, the decline has been fast and furious. Once a thriving gym for artistic girls gymnastics, it is now practically empty. Our child was taking Acro lessons, which is a very specific form of gymnastics, and the qualified coaches for this sport have left. Also, the best of their girls artistic coaches have left the gym, which is really unfortunate for the athletes. It is a time of incredible turmoil and change, so just know that going in. If you are trying to start Acro lessons, I would pick a different gym. If your child is a lower level girls artistic athlete, this might be a good fit for you. I have not heard great things about the coaches that remain at the gym, but I have had no personal contact, so I will leave it up to you whether you want to take a chance. While we were at the gym, there were always way too many athletes per qualified coach, which highlights mismanagement at the ownership level. To me, it was always a safety concern and I never did see a plan in place to balance out the ratio of athletes to coaches. Ultimately it is your call, everyone has a different experience. In my opinion, the new owners say all the right things, but don't follow through on promises. I sincerely hope that changes because this gym was amazing and turned out college scholarship level athletes! Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore.
